Journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry

The journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (ABC) is the result of the merger of Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, Analusis, Química Analítica and Chemical Analysis/Chemia Analityczna. It is one of the world's leading journals in the field of analytical and bioanalytical chemistry.

Members of the Division of Analytical Chemistry have access to the full versions of all articles via MyGDCh.

How can ABC and the specialist group support each other?

There is a special relationship between the Division of Analytical Chemistry and the journal ABC not only because this journal emerged from the Fresenius Journal of Analytical Chemistry, but also because the GDCh - like other European professional societies - is a co-owner of the journal. Members of the division can therefore read the journal free of charge and the division finances a large part of its extensive scholarship programme through the lease payments.

The annual lease payments depend on the success of ABC. After all, almost 50% of the accepted manuscripts come from Europe and German scientists alone can be proud of an impressive 14% of accepted papers. This percentage is leading in Europe and has remained almost stable over the years. In addition to "Full Papers" on significant advances in research, "Communications" can also be published, which as Proof of Principle provide analysts with new, important contributions in a short space of time. Experience has shown that critical reviews and trends are the main factors influencing the impact factor. In addition, feature articles are intended to present current problems of high general importance and interest to society from the analyst's point of view.

For the "Highlights" series, excellent young scientists or experts are nominated whose research receives special attention; ABC can thus highlight important research areas in a targeted manner by important scientists in their fields.

ABC is known for rapidly publishing excellent and research-driving articles on fundamental and applied areas of analytics and bioanalytics. The publication of well-cited articles means an increasing impact factor and thus also increasing contributions from ABC to the division (both are of course influenced by the submission of excellent articles from Germany as well). The average publication time for online publication is just under 90 days. This short time, the high visibility of the journal not only in Europe and the easy access, especially for members of the specialist group, makes publishing in ABC attractive and supports the activities of the specialist group.
