A career in science

To realise the dream of researching in your own working group, you can fall back on various networks and offers of help.

A career in science

German Association for Junior Professors

The association is a nationwide association of junior professors. Its aims are to provide idealistic and financial support for junior professors. The association aims to be a communication platform for junior professors, support networking and information exchange and promote public relations work.

EURAXESS

EURAXESS Germany - the national coordination centre at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research) is an information and advice centre with information on all aspects of careers in science. Here, mobile researchers can find out about ways to successfully embark on a career in academia and also receive information on further training opportunities, for example, and can find out who offers support for dual-career couples, which programmes are specifically aimed at women and who sponsors industry-related projects.

GAIN
German Academic International Network is the name of this initiative supported by the DAAD, DFG and the AvH Foundation. The aim is to support German academics in North America and also to help them with a possible return to Germany. The aim is to counteract the brain drain, i.e. the exodus of highly qualified and expensively trained scientists from Germany to other countries.

Research Gate

Looks a bit like Facebook and works in a similar way - but on a scientific level. Scientists have come together here to discuss topics in all kinds of disciplines.
