The Big Bang and the time that followed brought matter into our universe. The starting materials were elementary particles, and in the end there were also solar systems, i.e. stars (suns) and planets. The processes used were fusion, transmutation, nuclear fission - everything that generates energy, but also chemical elements. Since the creation of the elements, there have also been natural radioactive isotopes. In addition, humans produce further radioactive isotopes artificially. Radioactive radiation must be measured and monitored in order to be able to use it sensibly in medicine and technology without causing damage.
