The statement on the EU's PFAS restriction proposal prepared by the GDCh ThinkTank "PFAS" can be found below. The statement was submitted to the European Chemicals Agency before the end of the public consultation phase.
GDCh Comments on the PFAS Restriction Proposal of ECHA (September 2023)The statement was drawn up by the people named in the document. In addition to approval, there was also criticism from the ranks of our members. In particular, members from the fields of environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology and regulatory affairs criticised the
risk assessment of the statement, which in their view was essentially carried out from the perspective of industry and ignored the existing knowledge of the environmental and health hazards associated with these compounds.
In order to transparently reflect the discussion process within the GDCh we document on these pages the readers' letters published on the topic in the News from Chemistry, issue 12/2023, as well as the statement of the Executive Committee of the Division of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology.
