Advantages of membership

With a network of around 1900 members, the specialist group for chemistry teaching offers a wide range of activities and information to improve the quality and performance of chemistry teaching. These include, for example

  • Discounted participation fee for the annual conference of the specialist group, at which a platform for sustainable chemistry teaching is offered in numerous experimental and discussion lectures, workshops and posters as well as the general meeting.
  • Subscription to the journals CHEMKON and Chemie in unserer Zeit at a preferential price (must be taken out separately)
Associate member of the GDCh and member of the specialised group FG CU

Annual membership fee: 40 euros

Interested chemistry teachers from Germany and abroad can choose associate membership as an alternative to full GDCh membership if they do not have a degree in chemistry, biochemistry or food chemistry.

Associate members of the GDCh can also be persons from Germany and abroad who have an education not in chemistry or related fields and are interested in working in the Chemistry Education Section.

Associate membership of the GDCh is linked to membership of a specialist group. You receive all the benefits of the Division of Chemistry Education, but not the benefits of the GDCh. The right to vote is limited to the active right to vote in the Division.

Free trial membership for student trainees in the chemistry teaching section

Study trainees can familiarise themselves with the benefits of membership in the Chemistry Education Section of the German Chemical Society free of charge for one year.

All student trainees who opt for associate membership will be exempt from membership fees for the first year of their membership. This offer only applies to new members. From the second year onwards, the annual membership fee of 40 euros for associate membership of the GDCh and specialist group membership of the Chemistry Education Section will be payable. Please refer to the section "Associate member of the GDCh and specialist group membership in the FG CU" or the application form for the benefits of this membership.

Please print out the application form fill it out, sign it and send it to the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker, Mitgliederservice, Postfach 90 04 40, 60444 Frankfurt am Main.
