HomepageLiebig Association for Organic Chemistry
Who we are - What we do

Organic chemistry is a key discipline in modern chemistry and the natural sciences. It is at the heart of many cutting-edge research areas, ranging from materials science, catalysis and combinatorial chemistry to supramolecular and biological chemistry.

The Liebig Association is the specialist group of the GDCh that is dedicated to the topics of organic chemistry in the narrower and broader sense.

One of its main concerns is to raise and strengthen awareness of the importance and potential of organic chemistry in the modern natural sciences.

So the members of the Liebig Association develop activities on the following topics:

  • Public relations work and further education for schools and universities, for teachers and pupils, for society and politics
  • Modernisation and quality assurance of chemistry courses
  • Stimulating new fields of research and strengthening current research projects
  • Promoting young scientists and strengthening international exchange programmes
  • Strengthening cooperation and exchange between academia and industry
  • Promoting interdisciplinary contacts and projects
  • Strengthening and innovating the scientific publication landscape
  • Strengthening and emphasising the area of safety, environmental protection and sustainability
