Award winners, nanoparticles and forensics. Top-class speakers and topics of great general interest characterise the lecture session of the Analytical Chemistry Division. After an introduction by the President of BAM, Prof Dr Ulrich Panne, on the role of analytical chemistry in today's research landscape, the Fresenius Prize winners 2019 Prof Dr Andrea Sinz and Prof Dr Detlev Belder will report on their current work. In addition, two lectures will focus on the analysis of nanoparticles in biological systems and in the environment. Forensic topics will form the crowning finale with the analysis of illegal drug laboratories and doping offences.

  • Analytical Sciences: From Ostwald's Maid to Enabling Science (Ulrich Panne, Berlin)
  • Integrated Chemical Micro Laboratories (Detlev Belder, Leipzig)
  • Cross-linking/mass spectrometry for the investigation of protein structures and protein-protein interactions: Where do we stand and which path do we want to take? (Andrea Sinz, Halle)
  • Nanoparticles in medicine: curse or blessing? (Uwe Karst, Münster)
  • Innovative ICP-MS-based methods for analysing nano- and microparticles in the environment (Björn Meermann, Koblenz)
  • Forensic analysis for the evaluation of illegal drug laboratories (Michael Pütz, Wiesbaden)
  • Doping analysis - detection of banned substances and their degradation products (Mario Thevis, Cologne)
