Website of the specialist group
Synthetic biology encompasses various disciplines in the natural and life sciences and involves the design of biological networks, systems or even entire cells that do not occur in nature.
In January 2020, DECHEMA and the Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM) agreed to merge the activities of the Division of Systems Biology and Synthetic Biology and the GBM Study Group Synthetic Biology into the Joint Division of Synthetic Biology . In February 2021, the German Chemical Society (GDCh) joined the agreement; in June 2021, the German Botanical Society (DBG) was added.
Your contact within the GDCh: If you are interested and/or have any questions, please contact Dr. Christina E. Weinberg (Institute of Biochemistry at Leipzig University).
Membership: The joint division is open to all members of the participating societies without additional membership fees. GDCh members simply fill in the Application for personal membership (electronically fillable PDF) and send it to the GDCh Member Service.
The Joint Division Synthetic Biology is not a specialised division in the sense of the GDCh statutes.
