The Bettina Haupt Foundation promotes research into the history of chemistry by honouring outstanding work by young scientists from the German-speaking world with the Bettina Haupt Prize for the History of Chemistry.
The Bettina Haupt Foundation is administered in trust by the GDCh and was established by Prof Dr Heinz Sperlich and his wife Ingeborg in memory of their daughter Dr Bettina Haupt, née Sperlich, who died in 1985 and was herself active in the field of the history of chemistry.
The Bettina Haupt Foundation invites applications for the Bettina Haupt Prize for the History of Chemistry to be awarded in 2026. The foundation promotes research into the history of chemistry by recognising outstanding work by young scientists from the German-speaking world. The prize is endowed with EUR 1500.00.
Published and publishable work on any topic in the history of chemistry will be considered, including articles, provided they have been accepted for publication in a high-ranking journal. Joint work by several authors as well as thematically related individual works can also be honoured. Published works should not be older than three years.
The prize will be awarded at the lecture conference of the History of Chemistry specialist group, which will take place on 19 and 20 March 2026 at the University of Lübeck. The prizewinner will be given the opportunity to present their results in the form of a lecture.Applicants must submit their work in electronic form as well as their CV and list of publications by 30 September 2025.
