The Working Group Chemical Crystallography (ChemKrist) of the GDCh Division Analytical Chemistry deals with crystal structure analysis as an analytical method for solving chemical problems - in close cooperation with people who use X-ray and neutron structure analysis; in addition to single-crystal methods, this also includes powder diffraction in particular. Founded in 1979 as the Working Group for Crystal Structure Analysis of Molecular Compounds (KSAM) in Frankfurt am Main, it has been known as ChemKrist since 1999.

The working group pursues the objectives:

• Intensifying the exchange of ideas within chemistry, in particular advising working groups facing structural chemistry problems
• Discussion forum for all areas of application of diffraction methods for solving chemical problems
• Strengthening cooperation in the field of hardware and software as well as in the instrumental sector, Representation of user interests in dialogue with manufacturing companies
• Conducting introductory and advanced training events for both young scientists and experienced users:
• Representing the interests of colleagues organised in the GDCh
• Maintaining contact with the German Society of Crystallography
