Archaeometry working group

The Working Group Archaeometry (AKA) is a structure within the GDCh Division of Analytical Chemistry and deals with aspects of the natural, technical and humanities sciences with regard to the processing of cultural-historical issues as well as the research and conservation of cultural artefacts. The working group is an association of individuals, institutes and companies who are interested in the fields of work and working methods represented by the working group.

For the first time in 2026, the working group will award the Gerhard-Schulze-Nachwuchspreis in recognition of outstanding theses in the field of archaeometry. The aim of the prize is to promote young academics, give them the opportunity to network and achieve greater visibility for the field of archaeometry.
