Working group 8 - Co-operation

Status quo

There is contact and regular exchange with the senior chemists of the American Chemical Society (ACS; Robert Yokley), the Swiss Chemical Society (SCG; David Spichiger), the Society of Austrian Chemists (GÖCh; Walter Schneider). The Società Chimica Italiana (SCI) and the Société Chimique de France (SCF) and probably also the Royal Chemical Society (RSC) have senior chemist subgroups.

Close co-operation with GDCh specialist groups: History of Chemistry, Chemistry Education and Equal Opportunities Commission within the GDCh

Cooperation exploration with the Process Analytics Working Group (PAT; Analytical Chemistry Division)

Cooperation with JungesForumChemie: annual conference, technology tours

Cooperation with DECHEMA regarding "...yes, but how"

Goals

  • Start exchange with SCI and SCF; participation in conferences
  • Possibility of special fees/support programmes for conferences such as those of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS)
  • Promote interdisciplinary projects and active participation in commissions, think tanks, etc.
  • Continuously provide for young talent

Projects under consideration

Promoting experimental teaching

Explore cooperation with VAA: Aim information about GDCh-SEC specialist group to VAA members. The programmes for retired members seem to complement each other

Members of the working group

Speaker: Eva Wille
Wolfram Koch, Wolfgang Kortmann (Stiftung Kinder forschen), Barbara Pohl, Uwe von Grabowski.

Collaboration with GDCh specialist groups

The 2024 member survey has yielded further suggestions, such as the Food Chemistry Society, Energy and Sustainable Chemistry specialist groups.
