SEC at the GDCh Science Forum in Aachen

The GDCh Science Forum took place from 16-18 Sep 2019 in Aachen. The senior chemistry experts organised an afternoon of lectures there on Tuesday, 17 Sep, whose motto referred to Aachen:

Enjoy Aachen with all your senses

We addressed four senses with the topics of the lectures:

  • Taste: Dr Michael Krohn (BRAIN AG): Spicy - or rather flavour
  • Smell: Prof. Dr Heribert Offermanns (formerly of Degussa AG): "Oil and flavour". Degussa AG): "Öcher" chemical elements from a personal perspective
  • Seeing: Prof. Dr Hans Karl Rouette (dye works Gebr. Rouette and Rzehak, Rotex): Wool cloths and sulphur thermal water: textile town and spa centre were once typical of Bad Aachen
  • Tasten: Prof. Dr Marcel Liauw (RWTH Aachen University): When we lose sight and hearing ─ Aachen with a lot of feeling

The WiFo took place at the eurogress in Aachen, see www.wifo2019-aachen.de. The event was reported on in the News from Chemistry: Nachr. Chem. 2019, 67(12), 82.
